How to apply safely — and avoid job scams

FinanceSearch AI is not an employer or a recruitment agency. Every vacancy above was found on a public job board, and the card tells you which website it is listed on. To apply, open the listing on that website and follow the employer's own process there — that way your CV and personal details stay inside a platform that can be held accountable.

Apply the right way

  • Read the full brief first, then tailor your CV to the requirements listed — generic applications rarely progress.
  • Apply only through the source website named on the vacancy, or the employer's official careers page.
  • Keep a simple record of where and when you applied so you can follow up professionally after a week or two.
  • Check the closing date. Late applications are usually discarded automatically by applicant tracking systems.

Never pay for a job

A legitimate employer or registered recruiter never asks you for money. If someone requests a "registration fee", training deposit, courier payment for a laptop, or an amount to "secure" the position, it is a scam — stop the conversation immediately. In South Africa, placement fees are paid by the employer, never by the candidate.

Signs of a fake recruiter or unsafe website

  • Offers arrive by WhatsApp or Telegram with no interview, no company email address and no formal contract.
  • The email domain is free (gmail, outlook) rather than the company's own domain.
  • The website has no company registration details, no physical address and no working "Contact" page.
  • You are pressured to decide within hours, or asked to keep the "opportunity" confidential.
  • The salary is far above the market rate for the role and the duties are vague.

What to hold back until the employer is verified

Your CV, work history and contactable references are enough for a first application. Do not share your ID document, bank details, tax number, proof of address, or copies of your qualifications until you have confirmed the company exists, spoken to a named person, and received a written offer. Never allow anyone to open an account or take out credit "on your behalf" as part of an onboarding process.

Vacancies are shared for information only and may close or change without notice. Read our financial and editorial disclaimer for more.
